Overview & Creation
Wielding spell and spear, a gish is a warrior-mage that weaves spells into their dance of battle. A gish is less a champion of the gods, than a skilled master of spell and sword who seeks inner
enlightenment or to become the most powerful warrior they can be, able to take on entire squadron on their own. Many gish will practice their art on the training grounds of their lords, or in special monasteries, where children that show potential skill will be accepted into the school to practise the arts. Becoming a champion of both martial and arcane arts requiring especial dedication to master the forms.
Class Features
Lv.3 Battlemagic
Through practice the Gish becomes fluid in casting spells allowing the gish may apply their proficiency bonus to spellcasting checks, and no longer suffers disadvantage on spellcasting checks when adjacent within 5ft of a hostile foe or threat.
They are also able to cast spells with somatic compoents even if they do not have a hand free.
Lv.6 Spell and Sword
You can imbue your weapon, shield or armour with a spell that triggers on contact with a foe. When taking a shield blocking action against a weapon attack this spell can be triggered on either the attacker in melee or the weapon/ammo striking the shield.
Lv.8 Spellshield
As an action you may raise a magical spellsheild about your person, granting you a magical +2 bonus to your dodge DC. In adition whenever you would fail a save against a magical effect, your sheild instead absorbs the magic, allowing you to avoid the effect. When this happens your spellsheild is broken and must be raised once again. A spellshield is not a spell itself, but a form of magical aura and cannot be dispelled, or otherwise interacted with as a spell.
Lv.10 Spellmaster
At 10th level a gish has trained in the arts of ritual to be able to cast common rituals they know as normal spells, taking 2 action points instead of the rituals casting time. When casting a ritual spell in this manner, the gish may eschew the material regents of the ritual.
