Nazof - Deep Swamp

Nazof walked through the dense swamp. He had read through the journal of Tashlie Kos and knew exactly where it had been. It was Garfryn. Everything else had been a distraction. The spices, the mention of the warzone. Nazof had done the research, Tashlie Kos died in these swamps on the first day of the year fifty-eight. They never found a body, but it likely faded after forty years. Nazof cut down the various vines, of which there were many. After about ten minutes of cutting, Nazof came to a large hole in the side of a cliff face.

He quickly ran towards it. He checked for traps first. He rolled a large boulder along the floor. Nothing happened. Then he sent a basic light spell through the room. Nothing happened. He threw a dagger into the room, in the air. It cut through something and caused fifty different traps to go off. Axes swinging from one side to the other, flames, pit traps, spike walls. It took a few minutes, but they reset. Now that the tripwire was broken, Nazof stepped through the cave. Nothing happened. He turned a few times in following the path. Nazof then came to a large room, with a hole in the ceiling.

Through the hole, a ray of light was shining on a large pile of treasures. Platinum and bronze coins. There were also larger things like a giant crown that Nazof could sit on. There was also something else. A large gate structure with eighteen individual bricks and a small platform. Each brick had a symbol on it. "This has to mean something." He said. Nazof looked back at the gate. The bricks appeared to extrude from the gate. Nazof pushed in one of the bricks.

The symbol started to glow, and Nazof was taken aback. He pressed another glyph. It started to glow. Nazof pressed three more glyphs. The inside of the gate started to glow with a sheet of light. Nazof walked around to the other side of the gate. It wasn't glowing at all. Nazof didn't want to walk straight through it, so he picked up a pebble. When the pebble made contact with the light, it was like water, the light rippling. The pebble accelerated to extreme speeds after it passed through the light. The pebble created a small hole in the cavern wall. He pressed another, non-glowing glyph, and the gate reset. "I wonder what would happen if I tried other combinations," Nazof said.

He spent the rest of the day putting in combinations. He tallied the number of combinations he entered on the wall. By the end of the day, he was at one hundred ten. Nazof went to sleep thinking about the gate. What was the correct combination? What was on the other side of the light? These questions entertained him as he fell asleep. Then a statement permeated his mind.
