North of the Iron Keep, at the edge of the Eerie Forest.

21st Sol of Araḫ Kislimu, 378 EM

Storm clouds gather overhead as a small child is picking black flowers amongst the snow covered rocks. Fierce winds dance around him as he seems to ignore the cold. His gray cloak is grabbed by the wind pulling it in all directions. He stops to pull the cloak closer. After grabbing a small handful he chews on them one at a time before he suddenly stops as he hears muffled footsteps in the snow. He slowly opens his hand to drop the flowers as his eyes search the ground looking for a large rock to grab. He eventually spots one with a semi pointed end. As he slowly reaches towards the rock the footsteps behind him quicken in pace. He grabs the rock and quickly turns as a wolf pounces on him.

Some time later a group of Teutan guards are overseeing a group of fellers loading wood onto a wagon. The guards stand by the wagon laughing when in the distance one of them hears a strange sound coming from behind. The guards turn to face the sound and draw their swords. The fellers drop the logs and gather behind them with their axes in hand. From behind the trees a child emerges. His cloak and face is covered in blood. They can see that he is dragging something behind him. The party lowers their weapons and the guards rush over as they recognize the child. As they approach they realize the child is quietly talking to himself. The captain steps forward and kneels down as the child stops in front of him. He pulls the corpse in front of the captain and he sees the lifeless body of a wolf with its skull bashed in. At first the captain could only look at the child in shock but quickly moves to check him for any wounds. As he check the child he notices his gaze never leaves the ground but continues to mutter under his breath. He reaches for the child's bloodies hands who recoils from he slightest touch.

Finally the child speaks aloud. "He took it from me, could you help me get it back?"

Confused, the captain asks, "Get back what Valtyr?"

The child shows his bloodied hand missing several fingers.
