To escape the war ravaging his home world, timid Niht sneaks onto a ship filled with devotees to the masked gods. Fleeing to an isolated compound, the warrior monks of the sister gods of fate discover the stowaway. Believing him fated to join them, Niht is given a choice: succeed to become member of the order or die in the deadly challenges set before him. Faith and fortitude war with doubt and disbelief as violently as the war beyond that place, but when violence comes to the isolated outpost, a fearful Niht must stand up fight or die at the invader’s hands.
