While much of my current writing focus is on finalising my draft novel, at the same time I've been considering my characters' histories. It is one thing to say that two principalities are not on agreeable terms - it is another thing entirely to comprehend exactly why that is the case.
Therefore, several back stories are also in the works to provide you with some of the "backdrop" in my world's history. While my first book (called Wrenched) does not require any knowledge of the world whatsoever, having some short stories taking place in the realm can help draw you in a bit more.
Though I've been a member on WorldAnvil for quite some time, I know I'm very new here, in reality. So it is my desire to help you understand something of my world and its people.
Releasing in Stages
As I did with Fallen Down of Nectar Glen, I will be writing and releasing Skirmishes and Schisms in stages. This helps me more so than the reader, as it helps me feel I've made progress rather than indefinitely pushing back when a draft story will be published!
Large World, Short Scenes
If you're totally new to my writing, then I've adopted a style where there are "scene changes". Events do not happen in isolation and rarely do they only impact their epicentres. Instead they can ripple out from said event, or many things in the world can converge to bring something into being. My writing includes both at appropriate times.
But, as Skirmishes and Schisms is a short story, I have tried to keep individual scenes as short as possible, without foregoing important details.
Let's Go
With all that being said, let's head to Ana 545, approximately eight years before Wrenched - to an event that would impact both the Realm of Qal'ath and the Forest of Doon for many years to come. This is Skirmishes and Schisms.
