The Noble and the Priest

Once upon a time, there was a small village in a land far away, where a noble was accused of murdering his own child. The noble was richer than everyone in the village combined and they hated him for it. When the noble was brought before the village for judgement, the villagers were determined to get their share of his wealth.

In the village also lived a priest. Albeit young, the priest's faith in Enequila was strong. When the noble was brought before the village, he sought her guidance. Enequila answered and told the priest that the noble was innocent and he should be spared. The priest told the crowd that Enequila passed her judgement and found the noble innocent. Hearing this, the noble sighed and thanked the gods for their wisdom.

Unfortunately for him, the villagers driven by greed, rejected the priest's words and voted to execute the noble anyway. He was hanged that night and his wealth was distributed among the villagers. The only one to be denied a part of the noble's treasure was the priest. It did not sadden him however, as he had faith in the gods.

The next day, a terrible flood came upon the village. Houses were picked up and washed away, people and livestock drowned. The priest, upon seeing the coming water rang the bell and prayed to the gods to save the village. After a few hours, the water receded and the priest emerged from the temple. When he opened the temple door, he saw the village destroyed and its people dead. The only structure left standing was the temple itself. When he looked around, he saw a glittering layer around the temple. By the will of the gods, all of the gold taken from the noble was washed to the temple and surrounded it.

Enequila then spoke to the priest:

- Only you have heeded my wisdom and rejected greed. For this, you shall be rewarded. Those around you wished death on an innocent man. For this, they have been rewarded.
