Koratana, a young Kalshtar, was born and raised in a coastal town named Seamers, known for its devotion to the Sea Queen goddess Umberlee. His family had a long history of serving the Umberlee church, and he was no exception. His father, a skilled fisherman, and his mother, a healer in the local temple, instilled in him a strong sense of faith and community.
From a young age, Koratana's life revolved around the sea. His mornings began with the salty breeze ruffling his hair as he helped his father prepare the fishing boat. They would set out before dawn, casting their nets into the azure waters, and praying to Umberlee while offering coins for a bountiful catch. This simple routine of hard work and faith was the cornerstone of Koratana's upbringing.
In the afternoons, he would often visit the temple of Umberlee, tending to the needs of the clergy and assisting with various chores. He was known for his willingness to help others, often accompanying his mother on her visits to those in need, whether they were injured fishermen or families struggling to make ends meet. His passionate and competent appearence and helping nature earned him the respect of the townsfolk.
But it was in his teenage years that Koratana's faith and devotion to Umberlee were truly put to the test. One fateful day, Seamers was attacked by a notorious band of pirates led by the ruthless Captain Blackthorn. The pirates' motives were clear – they sought to plunder the town of its wealth, and its people were in grave danger.
As the pirates descended upon Seamers, chaos erupted. The town's defenders, outnumbered and outmatched, looked to the temple of Umberlee for divine intervention. But Umberlee demanded a sacrifice for her assistance, as was her way. The town, in need for salvation, gathered their most precious belongings and offered a substantial tribute of gold and jewels to the goddess. They cast these treasures into the churning sea as an offering, a sign of their unwavering faith.
It was then that Koratana felt a surge of power within him, a connection to the goddess he had worshipped his entire life. With newfound strength and determination, Koratana took up arms alongside the town's defenders. As the battle raged on, he invoked the tempestuous wrath of Umberlee, summoning thunderous storms to repel the invaders. By Umberlee’s wrath, lightning crackled in the sky and the sea rose in fury, swallowing the pirate ships whole.
In the aftermath, although the price was high, the towns folk was deeply grateful for the immediate help of Umberlee and the brave warriors who fought at the front lines.
Koratana's relationship with his Quori, whom he affectionately referres to as Tana, was a source of strength and wisdom. Tana, a mysterious entity from the dreamplane, had been a constant presence in his life, guiding him in wisdom and morality.
As Koratana continued to serve Umberlee and protect his coastal home, he knew that more challenges lay ahead. But with faith in his heart, the power of the sea at his fingertips, and the guidance of his Quori companion, he was ready to face whatever trials the future held, all while remaining a steadfast beacon of hope and strength for Seamers and its people.
