Davion Birchwood

Strength:18, Dexterity:14, Constitution:14, Intelligence:8, Wisdom:12, Charisma:18, Luck:12   Davion is an exuberant, cheerful, and optimistic young adult half-elf who wants to save the world. Since he was a child he always acted on an innate sense of justice and often came home with bloody noses that he proudly declared he got while standing up to the bullies. He swore his oath of devotion to the Borosi Vanguard just before leaving Serenity with Snake and Jasmine. The Borosi Vanguard was/is a paladin order that may or may not still exist that Davion’s master, Victor Albin the Half-elf school teacher in Serenity, was once a member of, but he doesn’t talk much about those days.   Folk hero background Defining moment: One day when Davion was 16 a neighbor’s house had caught fire, she was screaming about her 3 year old child not making it out and the Serenity volunteer firefighters had yet to arrive, so Davion, without thinking, ran into the burning house and found the child and carried them out just as the firefighters arrived. Davion’s half-elf school teacher was one of the volunteer firefighters and begrudgingly agreed to train Davion as a paladin if only so that he could know how to handle himself the next time he runs into a dangerous situation.   Victor and Davion have a good relationship but the half-elf teacher: Victor’s a bit of a curmudgeon but his heart is always in the right place. Over the years of Davions training Trevor became somewhat of a surrogate father figure to his pupil. A fact that became clear to Davion when after completing his oath swearing ceremony his master smiled and expressed the great pride he felt for Davion.   When Davion returned to Serenity having Discovered what had happened with the Source and negotiating a new living situation with the Kaawaii-ie Davion had a Heart to heart with Master Albin, He told Davion part of his live story Revealing that he knew Davion's birth father because Victor is his half-brother.  Davion felt a swell of pride that the man who had taught him so much, who he had seen as a father was a true blood relative all along.   Davion was Born from a Human mother and a High Sun Elf father. Davion’s father was a drifter who traveled the wastes and had arrived in Serenity Nine months before Davion was born and left five minutes after. In the words of Davion’s mother: “that no good deadbeat pointy eared bastard… I shoulda known he weren’t gonna stay… he just rolls inta a town he likes knocks up the baker’s daughter and leaves when he thinks he has seen everything the town has… only reason he stayed 9 months is cause he’d never seen a gal give birth… Don’t ever get pregnant Davy it’ll ruin your life.” this was told to Davion when his mother had had a little too much to drink at his 13th birthday.   Given the long lifespan of elves It is entirely possible that Davion could run into his estranged father while on his quest. This possibility has crossed Davion’s mind but it makes him uncomfortable.   His Father would currently be 144 years old   shortly after leaving setting up the residents of Serenity on the island Davion and his friends set out again to pursue the completion of Project Eden, but after Davion was quickly made aware of how pervasive crime and villainy were in the wastes Davion began to question his convictions.  he sought out guidance from the leader or the Peackeepers the only law enforcement outside the city states after talking Davion came to a realization and found A new conviction.  Davion believes in the world's need for Heroes to inspire people to do good even in the face of danger and adversity, and that part of why the world had gone so wrong was because people have been without such symbols.  upon this realization Davion's Oath changed from one of Devotion to Boros and Justice, too a Determination to better himself and the world and become a Heroic symbol that will inspire others to fight back against evil and oppression

Suggested Characteristics

Davion can some times come off as dumb or a fool but this is not entirely accurate: He's straight forward: he has a direct and uncomplicated view of morality and the world and how things should work and he uses this outlook to guide his actions, he doesn't think hard about a problem or it's solution because when he knows what the right thing to do is that is all the justification he needs to do it. He will tend to see complications, contradictions, grey areas, or extra details as irrelevant obstacles or things he can ignore, this can be good and bad sometimes foolish and sometimes exactly what the situation calls for, sometimes his actions will have ramifications that he should have seen coming and when that happens he accepts his fault and tries to learn from his mistake, but his A to B thinking can also be a great asset because it makes him able to act quickly under pressure.
