Hidden Silver In The Water
3-level Divination
Ritual - does not require spell slot, takes 10 minutes longer
Casting Time: 1 minute
Range/Area: Self.
Components: Verbal, Somatic, Material
Materials: Water, with powdered silver in it, worth at least 10GP
Duration: Concentration, up to 10 minutes
You pour the silver into still water, then you watch as the silver begins to form shifting shapes and moving images in the liquid. For the duration of the spell, you deduce dangers within a 5-mile radius with the help of Moving Silver. The images reveal potential dangers present in that area—such as storms, whirlpools, or potentionally agressive creatures like krakens. Although the images are vivid, they are also cryptic; you can discern general categories of danger (for example, you can tell a swirling mass is a whirlpool rather than a drifting ship), but the precise nature and location of each threat remains only vague guidance.
The Moving Silver updates the Water map every minute.
If you cast this spell two or more times before finishing your next long rest, for each casting after the first there is a cumulative 25% chance that you receive a “random reading” instead of a clear vision. When a random reading occurs, roll a d100—if the result is 25 or less (cumulative for each extra casting), the reading is jumbled and gives you an unintelligible or misleading image. The DM makes this roll in secret.
