Chains of Mechanus

4-level Conjuration

Casting Time: 1 action
Range/Area: Self.
Components: Verbal, Somatic, Material
Materials: a small cog
Duration: Concentration, up to 1 minute
Attack/Save: Ranged spell attack / Dexterity saving throw
You conjure a floating golden and bronze cog behind your back, from which extend five mechanical chains. Two of them end in beak-like clamps, while the other three taper into sharp lance-like points. These chains act as extensions of your will, allowing you to strike, pierce, and restrain enemies with precision.   On each of your turns while the spell is active, you can use your action or bonus action to command the chains to perform one of the following effects:   Swipe: You lash out with a chain in a 30-foot cone. Each creature in the area must make a Dexterity saving throw. On a failure, they take 1d4 bludgeoning damage plus 1d4 Force damage, are pushed 10 feet away, and knocked prone. On a success, they take half damage and are not pushed or knocked prone.   Pierce: You launch one of the lance-tipped chains at a creature within 60 feet. Make a ranged spell attack. On a hit, the target takes 1d6 piercing damage plus 1d6 force damage.   Hold: You send one of the beak-tipped chains to clamp down on a creature within 60 feet. The target must make a Dexterity saving throw. On a failure, they take 1d10 piercing damage plus 1d10 Force damage and become bitten by the chain. A bitten creature remains tethered to you as long as it stays within 60 feet.   You have advantage on attack rolls against the bitten creature. Once on each of your turns, you can use a free action to move the creature(s) 5 feet in any direction. At the end of each of the bitten creature(s) turns, it can make a Strength saving throw, freeing itself on a success. You can have up to two creatures bitten at a time.   Grab/Throw: You send one of the beak-tipped chains (if available) to pick up a small object within 60 feet. You can move the object anywhere within range, and as part of the same action, you can hurl it up to 100 feet. (from you) The object counts as an improvised weapon or uses its normal weapon stats if applicable, you use your spell attack bonus for the attack, and your spellcasting ability for the damage.
