As you cast this spell, make a melee touch attack. If it hits, deal 1d6 negative energy damage per caster level (up to 15d6). A successful will save halves this damage. In addition, you restore HP up to half the damage you dealt.
Alternatively, instead of dealing damage to HP, you can instead deal 1d4 ability drain to any ability score and gain an enhancement bonus equal to the ability drain dealt for 1 hour per caster level. A successful will save negates the drain.
