Battle Bard
Typically self taught and from no school, these bards are born out of necessity.
Battle Rhythm
At 3rd level when you become a Battle Bard you can attack enemies where ever they might be hiding by enchanting your music, turning it into a Battle Rhythm. You can transform one instrument into your Battle Rhythm Weapon by performing a special ritual while you play the instrument. You perform the ritual over the course of 1 hour, which can be done during a short rest. It must be an instrument that you are proficient with to make it your Battle Rhythm Weapon.
Attacks made with your Battle Rhythm weapon are ranged and have a range of 100/400 ft., they deal piercing damage, and only require the target be able to hear and that you know they are present to target them. You add your proficiency bonus to the attack rolls and you use your Charisma modifier for the attack and damage rolls. The damage die is equal to your current bardic inspiration die.
Turning a magical instrument into your battle Rhythm weapon has the following effects:
Common- This weapon counts as magical for the purpose of overcoming resistance and immunity to nonmagical attacks and damage.
Uncommon- This weapon counts as a +1 magical weapon
Rare- This weapon counts as a +2 magical weapon
Very rare- This weapon counts as a +3 magical weapon
Lengendary- This weapon counts as a +3 magical weapon and does 2d6 bonus damage of your choice (chosen upon completing the ritual. The ritual can be repeated to change the damage type once per day)
Artifact- This weapon counts as a +3 magical weapon, does 2d6 bonus damage of your choice (chosen upon completing the ritual. The ritual can be repeated to change the damage type once per day), and has the vorpal quality
Key Change
At 6th level, you learn to enhance the nature of your Battle Rhythm.
Whenever you take the Attack action on your turn using your instrument if that attack hits, you can use one of the following Key Change options of your choice. You can use only one Key Change option per turn.
Low Key. You can expend one use of your Bardic Inspiration to cause the attack to overwhelm the target you hit. The target must make a charisma saving throw against the number you roll on the Bardic Inspiration die +8. On a fail they are stunned until the end of your next turn.
High Key. You can expend one use of your Bardic Inspiration to cause this attack to deal extra damage each creature of your choice within 5ft of the target you hit. The damage equals the number you roll on the Bardic Inspiration die plus your charisma modifier.
Fast Key. You can expend one use of your Bardic Inspiration to make an extra attack with your instrument. Both attacks deal extra damage equal to the number you roll on the Bardic Inspiration die.
Devastating Pitch
At 14th level your ability to inflict damage with your Battle Rhythm reaches its crescendo. Your Battle Rhythm weapon attacks score a critical hit on a roll of 19 or 20. When you score a critical hit you can use a Key Change option without expending any of your Bardic Inspiration uses. You can still only use one Key Change option per turn.
