Descendants of a once great pre-Sunder aquatic empire, the Ekendi have fallen far from their now forgotten greatness. While hardy of mind and soul, their home island of Kendisi has been under occupation for centuries by both the Protectorate of Manz as well as the Valmari. Ekendi are humanoids with prawn like heads and prehensile claws. Their skin, a thin, yet tough shell ranges in color from dark brownish red to light pink, though rare blue colored Ekendi exist and are either shunned or venerated by their communities.
Ekendi adventurers are common, as many seek a life free of servitude to races that see them as lesser beings.
Age. Though they hail from a meeker society, the Ekendi are a hardy race. They reach maturity relatively early, at around their first decade of life. Many go on to live for a century and a half before finally passing, making them one of the longest living of the chaosborn races.
Alignment. Ekendi tend to be toward a more neutral alignment, those who bend more toward the light live in tightly knit communities, attempting to preserve their culture and history in the face of exploitation by the other races colonizing them, while those who possess a more evil alignment typically live as pirates or raiders, harassing both their oppressors as well as their kinsmen for their own benefit.
Aquatic Ancestry. Due to their oceanic lineage, Ekendi have retained their ability to breathe water.
Darkvision. Ekendi eyes are particularly sensitive to light, giving them clear sight in the dark for up to 90ft.
