Ancient Soldier

In every era of every age there has always been a need for Soldiers. Though they say war is a young man's game, when it comes to long lived races such as Elves, Warforged, and the like; they're will always be the Ancient Soldiers. Men and women who have served under countless commanders and generals in even more countless battlefields, those who were both born for and raised in war and cannot escape it. They are hardened and gifted Soldiers without equal and can be found everywhere and yet are forgotten or worse ignored by the passage of time by their peers and superiors, especially as these Soldiers tend to live decades if not centuries. They are those who have learned to sleep with one eye open, have their ears to the ground, to keep their equipment maintained, and to have their lanterns filled. They are those will survive even the most grim and dark of situations, and so long as someone wants to someone else dead then they will always find employment as mercenaries, sell-swords, bounty hunters, or adventurers.

Suggested Characteristics

Use the tables for the soldier or marine background as the basis for your traits and motivations, modifying the entries when appropriate to suit your identity. Your bond could be associated with the last company or unit you traveled with previously, or with some of the comrades or brothers-in-arms you served with. The ideal you embrace largely depends on your worldview and your motivation for fighting, and your flaw reflects your traumas from the decades or centuries of war.
