Class Features
Phoenix Technique
When you choose this tradition at 3rd level, you start don the path to unlocking the true potential of the Way of the Phoenix.
You gain the following benefits.
Inner Flame
You learn the Control Flames and Produce Flame cantrips. Wisdom is your spell casting ability for these spells.
Phoenix's Grace
When using Deflect Missiles, you can add your wisdom modifier to the total.
Flaming Fists
You can channel the power of the phoenix into your unarmed strikes. Before attacking with your unarmed strike, you can choose to deal fire damage instead of bludgeoning damage.
One with the Flame
At 6th level, you gain resistance to fire damage if you don't have it already.
Rebirth
You become unyielding like the phoenix and can be reborn in the flames. When you are reduced to 0 hitpoints but not killed outright, you can drop to 1 hit point instead. Every creature within 10 feet of you must make a Dexterity saving throw against your Ki save DC. On a failure the creature takes 3 times your martial arts die fire damage and is pushed 5 feet away from you. On a success it takes half damage and isn't pushed. Once you use this feature, you must finish a long rest before you can use it again.
Improved Phoenix Technique
At 11th level your phoenix technique becomes even more deadly. You gain the following benefits.
Flaming Blades
Your flaming fists now also extend to your monk weapons.
Searing Lash
The reach of all your melee monk weapons increases by 5 feet.
Ignite
When you hit a creature or object with your Flaming Fists or Flaming Blades, the target must make a Dexterity saving throw against your Ki save DC. On a failed save, it catches fire and takes your martial arts die fire damage at the start of each of its turns, until someone takes an action to douse the fire.
Phoenix Form
At 17th level, your mastery of the technique allows you to channel the power of the phoenix. You can spend 5 Ki points to unleash your Phoenix Form.
While Phoenix Form is active you gain the following.
- You shed bright light in a 60 feet radius and dim light up to 30 feet past that
- You become immune to fire damage
- You gain a flying speed of 50 feet
- A creature that touches or hits you with a melee Attack while within 5 feet of you takes 2d10 fire damage
- Fire damage coming from you ignores resistances and treats immunities as if they were only resistances.
You can also benefit from the Rebirth feature once while in Phoenix Form and the damage increases to 6 times your martial arts die. These effects last up to 1 minute, until you use this feature again or until you die.
