The Warden walks you through the maze seeing creatures unlike any thing seen before beings off Horror after a close call with a facestealer the Warden shows you to a archway and tells you this is the entrance to the Rose Road and leaves you with the rules before walking off
"One can not walk this road alone there is no success as individuals here"
".There is beauty on this road but just like every rose this rose has its thorns but those thorns are important"
This is no valley of death as such you should not walk in its shadow for the shadows only hold terror"
once walk through you see the road a beautiful tunnel of flowers but immediately what catches your eyes are the fact that all light seems to stop 10 ft in.

Afhiri stayed close, keeping her calm even with the creature that decided to make itself known. The beauty of the roses caught her attention, looking up at the blooms with awe. Such a sight was far and few between and in some cases nonexistent in her world. The voice of the Warden caught her attention as he started to speak. Listening to the description of the road there was several moments of consideration before she spoke up.
"Not walk in its shadow...and the road is shadow." Her gaze wandered from the Warden and toward the dark that loomed not too far in the tunnel, her vision failed to cut into the darkness, frowning she looked to the others.
"Do we have torches, candles, lanterns? Something of the sort?" She hoped that this hadn't been an oversight on their part glancing at the wagon.

Ursu follows close trough the maze, the variety of creature leaving him somewhat in awe, realizing exactly what The Warden had been so assertive when it came to him leading the way through the maze. The change as they walk into the tunnel and the vibrant colors forced Ursu to give an appreciative nod at the beauty. He turns and looks at The Warden as he speaks. What seems to catch his attention the most was the idea that the thorns were... important? Made him very curious, but at the same time, the mention of shadow and the seeming dead stop darkness brought a level of worry.
"I have some torches and a tinderbox if we don't have any more reliable form of light. Always keep them on me when it comes time to travel," Ursu patted his pack.

Ellie stuck close to the wagon as they traveled through the maze, completely trusting the Warden to guide them through safely and only second-guessed her decision to tag along for the briefest moment upon seeing the facestealer. She looks in awe at the archway but is brought back to reality when the Warden gives the rules of the road. Thorns are important...that makes sense. Thorns keep those with ill intentions at bay. She tilts her head curiously at the darkness beyond and turns to the group with a smile.
"Oh, I may be able to help with this." She mutters a brief incantation and touches the plain copper ring on her index finger, her necklace flashing with a golden light that transfers to the ring and illuminates twenty feet around it. "This will stay for about an hour or so, but I can cast it as many times as we need to."
She is about to hand the ring to Ursu since he is leading but pauses with a little frown as she realizes it definitely isn't going to fit him. "Hm...didn't think that through. Well, if you have something easier to hold or wear, I can cast the spell on that instead!"

Es kept her hands on the wagon as they traversed the maze, keeping her eyes fixed on the contents to make sure they did not spill. She sensed rather than saw the facestealer, and shuddered. That's something that hadn't come up in scenarios...yet. As they reach the beginning of the Rose Road, she looks ahead, a little awed. It is beautiful. Beauty can be dangerous, however, and thorns....are important. She is relieved when Ellie produces light, she knew the light she could cast on her sword would be neither bright enough nor long enough for travelling. She gives a nod, ready to brave whatever lies ahead.

Giving Ursu a nod as he mentioned he had torches she was about to suggest lighting and handing them out, but Ellie mentioned she had a solution. looking toward her Afhiri's brows raised at the light that appeared on the ring with what seemed to only be a thought. Magic... Blinking away the distraction she gave Ellie a small smile.
"Can you do that to multiple objects? Or just one at a time?" Curious tone in her voice, looking toward the darkness. The smile drops away seeing the light isn't penetrating the pitch.
"Hmmmm..."

Ursu watches,as Ellie makes a copper ring grow bright with a radiant light. He sees her try to hand the ring off to hi, but as her hand gets close, it becomes immediately apparent why this item, might not be the best choice, causing him to sigh a bit, "Well, I do think there is a thing or two here tha-" Ursu turns to look at the darkness and sees the sudden stop, the light failing to pass any farther. He reaches up and rubs his forehead, "Time and time again, all the ways of this mysterious life continue to try my patience."
He looks around, trying to make sense of this. Shadows were dangerous, but their path lay through a dense impenetrable wall of it. If a magical light wasn't going to do it, surely his torches wouldn't either. He crossed his arms in front of him as he ponders. No spells. No flame. Just them, a wagon, and... Ursu peers over at one of the flowers. It had been an interesting way to phrase it, 'important'. He was slowly growing a mind for questions and experimentation as it seemed they were traversing into a world of puzzles.
He walks over to the flowers, examining it before reaching out hesitantly at first. There was trepidation in his movement. He didn't know what to expect, what would happen, but it was a box with options slowly being eliminated, something was to be tried. He reached out and grabbed one of the flowers.

as Ursu looks around he will notice that on all the flowers about none seem to be roses a the path is lined in wisteria flowers (perception checks can be made)

"Just one item at a time unfortunately." Ellie frowns as the light just hits against the darkness with no change, tilting her head to the side. She dismisses the cantrip and hums to herself in thought.
"Oh...well. Let me try one more thing." Her necklace glows even stronger than the first time, transferring light as bright as daylight to her ring to see if it penetrates the darkness. (Daylight at 3rd level to see if that works) "Regardless, I think as long as we still together and don't stray alone we should be okay..."
Seeing Ursu reach for the flowers she keeps her gaze trained on him warily, waiting to see what will happen.

"This....this might be a silly suggestion but....I seem to remember that magic does not always work as expected in the feywilds. Perhaps...non-magical light, if Ursu has torches? If magic is not illuminating the darkness, perhaps the torches will?"

"I see." Nodding at Ellie in understanding before watching Ursu grab a flower seeing as the light didn't do what was hoped for. Shaking her head as the light still didn't press into the darkness. Though Es did point out an interesting concept.
"That may be worth a try." Looking between Es and Ursu.
"But...perhaps...the thorns can pierce the darkness? But these are the wrong flowers..."

Ursu looks at the flowers and about them lining the path but sees nothing with thorns. Hearing the suggestion he looks back at Es, and thinks for a moment, "Possible, but I have my doubts." He looks about at the flowers before looking back at the group. "Barring that, I think numbers are going to help, me poking in the dirt, so to speak, by myself seems antithetical to our rules I'm starting to realize."
Ursu straightens himself, looks over at Ellie and Es before pointing to the other side of the road, "You two, search that side of the path, see if you can find anything that might help. Ellie, use your ring to aid to the two of you, see if anything sticks out, not just flowers." The tone of his voice changes a bit to something with a bit more charge and sureness to it.
Ursu unshoulders his pack and pulls out one of his torches, hold it out to Afhiri. "Hold this while I light it, I want you to aid me on this side, we're going to give a wide sweep and see if we can find anything. If not, we'll reconvene and figure out a new plan."

Ellie nods at Ursu and turns to Es with a grin, holding out her glowing ring towards their side of the path. "It doesn't work on the darkness but maybe it'll help! Keep your eyes peeled, Daughter of Jaelle." She takes a few steps towards where Ursu pointed, staying close to Es as they search together.

Ursu scanning along with the flame of the torch illuminating the surrounding area, he manages to make out the withered rose among the others, a large grin spreading across his face, "Oh, how the pieces come together," Ursu makes his way over to it, peering at it to make sure it has thorns.

Ellie perks up hearing Ursu's remark and makes her way over to him, bringing the light closer along with her.
"Oh, a rose! How strange, it looks like it's the only one here...and it's all withered up. You know, I didn't think with it being called the Rose Road there would only be one singular rose but I guess that makes sense. Do you think maybe this is the key to traversing the path safely since magical light doesn't seem to do much?"

Afhiri's expression brightened upon Ursu finding the withered rose. Glancing back at Ellie and Es, her eyes drew back to the darkness. To pierce the darkness. She suddenly stepped in close to the large man holding the torch carefully to the side and reached out for the rose. Pressing a finger against the point of the thorn until it drew blood.
Pulling away to look at the bead of crimson.
"I think everyone should do the same. It's worth a try considering the other option we want to avoid, nor do we have much time to waste...We don't know how far the others have gotten."

Ursu looks at the others as he smiles about finally finding the rose. His listens and he is about to add to the conversation but is distracted as Afhiri reaches out and pricks a finger on the thorn. Ursu looks back at the rose with its singular thorn. "Very true, best to try what we can." Ursu reaches forward as well and copies Afhiri's actions, drawing a bit of blood as well.

Seeing Afhiri and Ursu draw blood Ellie instinctively reaches for the bag at her hip but stops with a little shake of her head at herself. Instead she gathers the hem of her sleeve to wipe the residual blood from the thorn on the rose before following suit, letting the sharp tip press into the pad of her thumb.
"We don't know until we try, right? I hope the others are faring alright...I wonder if their road is just as puzzling."

Es takes her lip between her teeth and jabs her thumb into the thorn. "We need to try something or there will be no party, and without a party, no rescue. We can't worry about them, we have to solve our own riddle. Hopefully, this does it."

"A small thought to them doesn't hinder us, I hope they are well." Watching the others prick their fingers in kind, Afhiri kept her eyes on the rose. Wondering if anything would happen and it did the bloom seemed to almost reach out for their respective puncture wounds. She looked down at her finger once more the bead of blood still present.
"Perhaps..." Pinching the pad she coax the bead to well up and grow larger, letting go once a sufficient amount had been drawn, or at lease what she thought would work for the size of the wound and reach out for the flower once more. Pressing the bead to a petal, hoping for a more energetic response.

"Daughter of Jaelle is quite right, as much as I might worry about the other group, that'll be a luxury for when we're out of here," Ursu watches the rose after they prick their fingers, how nothing seems to change aside from slight shifting. He strokes his goatee before he sees Afhiri reach out again and drip some blood on the rose. His eyes widen as he watches the rose come back to life and begin to give off its own light and expanding it past the initial wall of darkness. "Fantastic!"
He squeezes his own finger over the rose and drips more blood onto it, trying to see if it will continue to work if successive.

Ellie claps in delight seeing the rose illuminate and spring to life, giving Afhiri an excited pat on the shoulder. "Look at that! Great work! Hm," she puts a finger to her chin in thought as Ursu's blood doesn't have any additional effects, "Perhaps we are supposed to take the rose with us. Unless there are other roses along the path we need to keep an eye out for, like little blood lanterns, but that one was already so hard to find...I wonder if it works sort of like a spell? It only lasts for so long until it's wilted again, and then we need to give more blood?"

"That sounds reasonable. I'd also guess that it will have to be one of us to activate it next. Remember, this road is impossible to traverse alone? So perhaps each of us can activate it once? Or at least with a pause in between?" All this thinking. She's getting a headache

"Took a little thinking, steps forward." Ellie receives a warm smile from the pat on the back, but the neutral look comes back to Afhiri's face as Ursu's blood rolls off the petals to the ground. More pieces to the puzzle, she looked toward the now exposed bit of road ahead.
"We should move the wagon and look for another rose. If we find another someone else shall offer it blood." She looked to the other before stepping away to take her flanking position beside the wagon.

Ursu looks a bit disappointed that the illumination did not continue to grow, but is quite pleased with the progress they had made anything and with Ellie's rather positive response to it. All of it was process of elimination anyways, nothing lost from a little drop of blood not working.
"I concur on the idea of looking for more as long as all are in favor. Make the plucking of the rose a last ditch effort since the other flowers are illuminating and not so much the rose itself." Ursu moves to the front of the wagon and works and helping it move forward a bit. "If that is the plan, should we keep to the same searching teams?"

"I think that's the best course of action, probably."Ellie nods, a bit more pep in her step already from their success so far, admiring the glowing flowers for a beat before turning to Es and helping Ursu with the wagon from the side. "We'll check our side as we go, then? I'm not sure if there's a time limit on this light or not but let's still tread carefully."

"In fact we've found two." Nodding to Es as she point out the one she found.
"I think the honor is yours for the one you found, Daughter of Jaelle. Light the way." The warm smile reaching her eyes as she took Es' hand and gave it a squeeze. Turning toward the bloom she found she pointed it out to the others.

Ursu looks about trying to spot something, anything among the Wisteria flowers, but found frustration in a lack of results. Then his attention is pulled away as Es begins to excited announce they had found one. Oh? Not just one, but two of them. Ursu smiles widely as he peers over and watches, hoping that the results will be as they wished.

"Oh! How wonderful, you two are really good at this!" Ellie exclaims with a chuckle and heads over to where Afhiri pointed. Without hesitation she leans down and, if the withered rose is the same as the other was, pricks her thumb on the thorn and presses it to one of the petals as she had seen Afhiri do.

Ursu watches as he sees the light of the flowers remain faint with much displeasure. Slight progress, but not entirely what they were hoping for, however it meant the track they were on was still the right one. He walks over to the rose and that Es is at, "What is but a few drops of blood?" He snorts in self amusement as he pricks another finger on the thorn. The bead of blood forms as he watches before letting it drop down onto the rose. "Here is to hoping its not spilt for no reason this time, haha."

Ellie watches the droplet fall to the ground and chews her lip in thought. Well, that didn't seem to work, nothing changed. If only Demetrius was here, he was always better at solving puzzles and the like than she was. "Huh. The other one made all the flowers around it glow just fine...I wonder if it's because we all still poked ourselves with the thorn? That's the only thing I can think of that we did differently this time."
To test this theory she walks over to Es and Ursu, reaching out to prick her index finger on the thorn as well. As Ursu had said, what's a little bit of blood to narrow down options? "Gosh, this is super unsanitary..." she mutters under her breath.

"We absolutely can not leave you out, General." Smiling as she moves to begin looking for this fourth light switch...rose.

Ursu watches the roses and sighs as they don't seem to grow any brighter, but upon hearing Ellie, he smiles and gives a friendly nod, "The search continues, and I guess that puts you with me Daughter of Jaelle," Ursu looks at the others with a chuckle, "All I've ever wanted, haha." He says as he moves back to the otherside to look again for the next rose.
