Harald

They had been waiting ever since the holo video’s of the royal wedding had arrived. The thought of the King of the Commonwealth and his new bride coming to Isca seemed like a dream, but it had a happened.

The whole world of Isca had been celebrating the arrival of the king. Even now in the filled great hall of Stonehill Hold he could still hear fireworks going off. Lords from throughout the Dumgarth Sector had arrived to in advance of the king and his fleet to partake in the feasting which was now taking place over the world.

The king was older than what the Holo images of him showed. The magic of the camera his mother had told him. His bride the queen had looked just as beautiful as on the holo’s though. To meet the king and queen was a great honor.

King Oswald and his new wife was not the only guest of note to arrive to Isca. He was surrounded by the King’s Guard, knights sworn to serve the King of the Commonwealth, and Harald knew many of their names and had read about their exploits in the name of the king.

The youngest ever King’s Guard was Hilda Grip, daughter of the former Lord Commander of the King’s Guard. Harald knew less about her than the other members, he even knew about some of the enlisted members of the guard which were not part of the thirteen true King’s Guard but which filled the ranks as the King’s Guard own personal forces with loyalty only to the king.

Word had reached them that the young Hilda had defeated pirates in the west of the Commonwealth in the Furia Sector. She had hunted them down before the wedding of the king and arrived in take to witness it. He was almost as awed by her as Gwen was who couldn’t stop talking about her and had begged Harald to get her a seat at his father’s high table for the feast.

Joslyn had barely been seen since she saw her own sister who served under Hilda Grip. Idunn Vault looked much like her younger sister with their long dark golden hair and dark tan skin, but unlike her sister Idunn was many years older and stood to inherit the lordship of the System-lord of Brightstone in the Anchorage Sector one day.

Harald remained at the high table throughout the night as his first switched out seats one by one to have a chance to sit at the same table as the king and queen. He found the king rather funny, and he addressed Harald by name several time as he spoke to those at the table and happily enjoyed the food that the cooks of the kitchen put out.

Quincey would be beside himself when he heard how much the King enjoyed dish after dish but he noticed that the thing he enjoyed the most was the sweet local drink of mead that his own mother and father would allow him to have a cup of on special events like the King in their own hall. He could feel the effects of the sweet liquid turn his face flush and make his head feel light.

Throughout the night his father shared drink after drink with the king but neither showed signs of the effect of the booze while through the hall Harald could see toasts at the dozens of other tables spill again and again throughout the night and the cleaning bots move about to try and head up to the non stop mess that their guests made.
