Hakon

The streets were empty of people. They often where at that time of night, ever since the curfews had come into place, and the people of Ironspine had learned that the 113th Legion was more serious about their job than the local security forces. Things had begun to settle down across the world, and there had only been minor arrests throughout the System.

Hakon walked through the small compact buildings which made up the capital city. There weren’t much more than a million people in it, but it was one of the largest on the planet.

The platoon sized band was part part of an operation taking place throughout the System. The 53 members of the Band which their Retinue made up one of the four Retinues was just one such unit taking part in the operation.

Hakon didn’t know what had lead to the intelligence, but they had been briefed that there was a ship in orbit, along with several members on Ironspine, Coldrock, and Highdown. There was something about the ship which had got the General’s attention, and the operation had been planned to capture the ship and the crew on off ship.

Hakon had noted that their target on Ironspine was just one of more than a dozen. From the brief he couldn’t see anything strange from the small group of seven that made up their target, but they had been posted in the capital city, and they had weapons. Intelligence forces had them under full time surveillance, and the lightly armed group had been seen at several key features of the capital, but also common tourist location. The weapons were not odd, most off worlders carried them when on a world not their own. Space was a dangerous place.

Their Band assigned to capture the targets was overkill, but the General wanted them all alive, and so steps were taken to make sure all routes of escape were covered.

“Move,” Hakon heard the High Thane of the Band call in, followed by shouts from Thane Longreach, and the Retinue moved in. He knew that throughout the system the same action was taking place.

Three entrances were made for the Retinue to gain access, and four of the seven were still asleep, while three of the appeared to be on watch, but they were caught unaware.

Hakon fired a single shot from his non lethal weapon at a single target who dropped quickly as his two companions fell.

Hakon heard voices ring out from other members of the Retinue as other targets fell.

“We got a runner,” Hakon heard someone shout through the Comm system.

Hakon moved quicklk, and spotted the target as he ran into the empty street from some unknown tunnel that had allowed him to escape to the ground floor. He pulled himself out of the window, and dropped the three stories, allowing the Power Armor thrusters to break his fall as Echo controlled the fall.

Hakon landed, and looked towards the target, who looked back and saw Hakon, and his eyes widened at the power armor clad person looking back at him.

Hakon saw the pistol in the targets had, and saw the muzzle light up as he fired at him to no affect as the bullets bounched off the armor, and Hakon rose his rifle, and fired a single shot that dropped him.

Hakon stood, and walked to the down target, and grabbed him by the collar, and pulled him to his feet. And dragged him to the entrance of the small building as Third Companion Bull, and Guard XXXXX, his fireteam members cam out to meet him.

Bull laughed and shook his head. “Second Retinue would have gotten him,” his CO said.

Hakon shrugged. “Don’ like taking chances,” he said and tossed the unconscious body on the ground. “Fucker scratched my paint job.”
