Blair

Bastion was a lovely world. At twenty billion people it was twice the size of Goldenfields. It reminded her of her homeworld even though it looked nothing alike.

Both Bastion and Goldenfields had been Fabian Systems and worlds of the Fabian Dominion. Bastion had been largely abandoned before the Old Blood arrived in Drala. Once claimed by the Old Blood the world became an important trade route within the Dragon’s Head Nebula and a strong history of asserting its own independence from their kings.

Goldenfields had fallen to the Salinas, ancient Furse who had created many kingdoms during the fall of the Fabian Dominion in the west. From there the designs of both worlds changed and melded with one another but Blair could spot building on Fabian design that would fit on Goldenfields without a question.

Goldenfields had later fallen and been gifted to her own answer Rodger the Walker. The first Sector-lord of the Furmann Sector, and protector of the north. Clan Tusk had defended the Kingdom of the Salians from Furse raiders and other threats, and Goldenfields had grown.

Goldenfields also protected the last remaining Fabian Gateway that crossed the Dralan Trade Route and connected the Dragon’s Head Nebula with the rest of Fabian Space. Trade flowed through Goldenfields making it one of if not the wealthiest worlds in the North of the Kingdom of the Salians.

Blair felt that the sights of Bastion, although in some regard as alien as any other world, were almost enough to keep her from missing home, and she hoped that it would remain so when her brother left.

The date for the wedding had been set, and her brother had announced his intention to return home to resume his duty. Duncan promised that he would return before the end of the next month, more than enough time before the wedding in eight weeks time.

The king had been a gracious and generous host, and Blair would miss her brother but she would also look forward to time alone with the man who was to wed.

Blair had already met King Oswalds young children while his eldest remained off world where they served in the Commonwealth Forces, the military branch on the Commonwealth she would become queen of in two months' time.

King Oswald had ten children already with his former queen. Five remained at home and from what Blair had seen they were pleasant children. The thought of becoming a stepmother scared her to no end, but she had no doubt it was nothing she could not handle.

Prince Oswald was the youngest at only a year and half followed by little Princess Lark, Prince Oswyn, Princess Gwen, nd Kyla and followed by the sixteen year old Erik. Their eldest four siblings she hoped to meet before the wedding.

King Oswald expressed his desire for more children, and Blair had always wanted her own but she knew that her children would not stand to inherit title or any that they did would be minor. It was a bitter price she had accepted to become queen.
