Magnus
“It’s bullshit,” Richard Vault complained.
“It’s standard,” Edwyn replied.
“But it’s right there,” Richard said and waved his arm towards the bulkhead of the ship.
“Come on Rich, you didn’t think we would get leave on every world did you?” Lydia asked him. “I mean we passed through the Sledd System without even stopping.”
“And that was bullshit too,” Richard replied.
“We just attended the wedding of the king, traveled across Commonwealth Space, I think we have had enough time off,” Magnus countered, and he saw Edwyn twist his face. “What’s bullshit,” he continued. “Is that our training consists solely of holo training. It’s not the same, and we should be out in the cockpits.”
Edwyn nodded, but said otherwise. “Captain Hull wants to get back to the border as quickly as he can, he doesn’t want to waste time with training maneuvers.”
“Besides, were only in Harbinger’s Junction for a few hours to take on supplies before we head to the Warcroft System,” Lydia added
“Could have alot of fun in a few hours,” Richard said. “You know how small the ‘Greymark’ is?” Richard let out a sigh. “I just hate being in transit. I just wish there was something to do, and I’m sick of the Major running us up and down the corridors.”
Magnus nodded in agreement. The Major had them on training exercises on par with marines. Even small arms training was scheduled, but at least they weren’t required to don power armor.
“Could be worse,” Lydia said. “Major could have us in class rooms like back in the academy days.”
Magnus was glad for that. He had attended the Academy on Anchorage where his brother had, even though he could have attended the academy on Bloom. He and Richard had been classmates, while Lydia had trained with Edwyn at the famous Fistgard Academy. Neither he or Richard had been ideal students in the classroom.
“It just sucks being grounded, and sucks worse knowing there is a world out there,” Richard said with a sigh. “And what type of fucking name is Harbinger’s Junction anyways?”
“The System saw so many fleets amass in it, or travel through it to attack one kingdom or another that…” Edwyn began but stopped as Richard looked at him and than shook his head. “What? I know my history, kinda have to when your born into the royal family.”
The hatch to the pilots ready room opened, and Sub Lt Milburn walked in, and closed it behind him. He looked at the junior members of his flight, and shook his head.
“Lt Yoke wants us all on the flight deck,” he told them.
“Flight deck?” Richard asked excited.
“I didn’t stutter,” the Sub Lt said.
“Fuck yeah, we get approved for some fly time?” Richard asked.
The Sub Lt grinned. “No,” he said and shook his head, but his grin remained.
“Than what’s on the flight deck?” Magnus asked.
“Oh Lt Yoke wants to see how fast you dumb fucks can take apart and put back together a starfighter,” Milburn said with an evil grin. “Down to the last bolt.”
“Fuck,” Richard and Magnus said together.
